Amy Wingfield maternity leave April 2022

Amy has been a practitioner of Natural Medicine since 2002 and a practicing Acupuncturist since 2005. She has a Bachelor’s Degree from UTS in Health Science specializing in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that she completed in 2004. Amy also has an Advanced Certificate of TCM from the China-Japan Friendship Hospital that she completed in Beijing China in 2004. She holds a Diploma in Reflexology and has been a long time member of the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association as well as the government regulatory board Aphra.

One of the reasons clients seek out Amy as their preferred practitioner is due to her care and attention for each and every client. Each person’s health needs and concerns are viewed as unique and important to Amy and are discussed in a kind and approachable way. The plan of action and direction of healing is always agreed upon by both practitioner and patient and the journey is taken together.

Whilst Amy enjoys treating a wide variety of health conditions with Chinese Medicine, her special area of interest is hormonal disorders and infertility in both men and women. This has been a long-time passion and throughout the years Amy has assisted countless couples to fulfil their desire to have a child. Clients who have worked with Amy in the past often return to help conceive a second or even third or fourth child, having found her approach effective and therapeutic. Amy’s treatments not only help address imbalances underlying infertility but also assist a patient with continued health during pregnancy through to birth and postpartum care when needed. Nothing gives her greater happiness and joy than to do this work.

Working with fertility patients has also led to another keen area of interest for Amy, using Chinese Medicine for children. Paediatric Acupuncture is a safe and effective way to help treat a variety of conditions in babies and children from jaundice to colic, asthma, gut issues, ear aches and teething. Acupuncture is an effective way to help treat Adolescent concerns such as hormonal skin problems, sleeping issues and stress, anxiety, chronic fatigue and difficulty concentrating at school and with study. Treatment is suitable for all ages.

Amy also has a many years experience in performing Facial Rejuvenation treatments having completed her certificate in 2005. This involves following both ancient wisdom from Chinese Royalty & modern techniques and research to help promote healthy aging, rejuvenated skin and a youthful complexion. There are several techniques incorporated with Cosmetic Acupuncture & facial rejuvenation that enhance the effects of the treatment including Facial Massage, Acupressure, Crystal Therapy, Herbal Application and Facial Cupping. Facial cupping is one of Amy’s (and her client’s) favourite techniques to include during a facial rejuvenation session. She finds it extremely effective for stimulating circulation and assisting collagen production. Cupping helps to tone skin around the jawline, reduce eye puffiness, sinus congestion and reduce fluid retention in the face. This method is straight from the US and exclusive to our clinic on the northern beaches.

In her spare time Amy has a fascination with studying traditional cultures and their medicines, this began with Chinese Medicine. She is currently spending time immersing herself in Native American and South American medicines and healing approaches to incorporate into her treatments. Amy is presently studying to become a Shamanic Medicine practitioner, having already achieved her Level I Certificate in 2017 and now completing Level II Certification in October of 2019. Amy has found this medicine will become increasingly important in her clinical practice as it is a medicine journey to address the soul and to help bring patients back to remembering who they really are. What in the patient needs to be heard, released and nurtured to bring the body, mind and spirit into peace and wellbeing. ‘Shamanism is not a religion, it’s a method. And when the method is practiced with humility, reverence and self discipline the shaman’s path can become a way of life’, Hank Wesselman. Studying the path of the Shaman has also reconnected Amy with her love of music and singing. She has begun incorporating sound healing into her treatments when needed, finding with the results with children incredible.
